The last couple months I’ve been really tired. I’ve run at a pace I thought I could maintain but like many people who’ve gone before me I found myself exhausted. Funny thing is I work under the woman who literally wrote the book on finding your rhythm and yet in this last season I, without even noticing the drift allowed the currents of my life to push me off course.
Thankfully my default is to retreat into the only arms where I can find rest. When I find myself off course I always go back to the basics. I hit the reset button of my soul and I immerse myself in the word. My Bible is like a safety net to me, a compass that guides me. Whenever I loose my way I pitch a tent and spend days in the word until I find my center. It’s kind of my way of saying, “Lord I’m not letting go until I hear you, until the peace that has eluded my soul fills me up anew.” In the last couple weeks I have found myself engulfed in the prophets and in one of those moments where I felt lost I stumbled upon the following verses…
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
The wild animals in the fields will thank me,
the jackals and owls, too,
for giving them water in the desert.
Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland
so my chosen people can be refreshed.
Isaiah 43:19-10 (NIV)
Have you ever been so tired you can’t focus on anything? When I read, “See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?” my heart ached. So many times God is moving and we get so overwhelmed with what we cannot see that we miss the awesome new things God is doing. Aren’t you grateful that God moving in our lives and in and around our world doesn’t rely on our human eyes being able to perceive it?
Thankful and back on course,
